I am so excited to set up my Everbook! I have so many things to do, many areas of "work", and many projects. But I have limited time. Everbook will help organize it all. However, I need to organize it all according to God's Will. What comes first? Second and third? I want my bundles to reflect my priorities so that I can give proper focus where it is due.

I searched for some answers in the Table of Duties in the Small Catechism and here's what I found...

"Because God has established Church, Government, and Household and declared them good, they are the true "holy orders" blessed by God's Word. They are the places where we live in faith toward Christ and in love toward one another, sharing His word with them. Note the sequence - from congregation to society to household. We begin by remembering our identity in Christ as individual members of His Body, the Church. From there, we move out, into the world and daily work. Then we come home, where we gather together again for mutual service, meal time, prayer, and rest."

So what does this tell me about what comes first, second, and third?
1) Life in the congregation, the Church
2) Life in the Civic Community
3) Life in the Household

Now I have a question. Maybe you have an answer for me? I thought that the proper order was:
1) God
2) Spouse
3) Children
4) Home
5) Church
6) Community

That's what I've heard from some pastors who say that they are first, a husband, then a father, and then a pastor. But then the Table of Duties says that the Church comes first and the Household comes last? What does all of this mean?

Good questions! Sorry that we haven't been very present here to answer them!

In brief: I think the moment you start setting them against each other you run into a problem. There is a harmony between these estates. You cannot have God without his Church, and you ultimately cannot have your family with God (Last Day.) All are intertwined and your priority is the one that is right in front of you right now.
