Andy asked a great question over in the Welcome topic, and we should pick it up here. I'll also be doing my next Everbook video on this topic, so I'll save my thoughts for then. But Bryan and I did chat about it a little bit in today's podcast.

Here's Andy's question and the discussion: https://everbookforever.com/share/main-forum/welcome-the-stuff-you-need-to-know/

I just listened to a podcast the other day about digital minimalism (that's ironic.)...and I'm finally doing that limiting social media thing that everyone knows needs to be done, but most of us haven't gotten around to. The podcast was definitely more geared toward weaning off of the distraction of electronics, as opposed to our topic here of productivity in an intentionally analog world. The main topics I walked away with were that EVERYTHING has an opportunity cost; time spent on social media has diminishing returns; a helpful strategy may be to optimize our time with distractions. E.g. Set specific times, get on your screen with an actual purpose in mind, do that, and no more.

Nevertheless, I think the stuff's fascinating. I'm frankly amazed, just a couple days into more-or-less digital minimalism (at least, opposed to my usual intake)...I've got time, focus, and drive to get things done. Still working out how all of this will work out in regular, long term practice.

And yeah, the problem with analog vs. digital is in terms of long term filing, and the ability to search based on tags, keywords, etc. I need to do some hard thinking about that trade off...This post is getting ramble-y. Going to just leave it at that.
